is the collaborative project of singer/producer Jessica Berry and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Graham Godfrey. Emerging from the UK’s alternative soul and psych scenes, the duo create immersive records that blend psychedelic pop, vintage funk, soul, jazz and electronics. Based in Margate, their sound leans into analogue tones, loose arrangements, Berry’s soft-edged vocals and Godfrey’s deep rhythmic instinct. Their debut EP Forgetful (2017) introduced Thandii’s hazy, soul-infused sound. Singles like Alkaline, Not Much Room and Another One followed, before 2019’s Serious Town EP pushed further into lo-fi funk and woozy, beat-driven pop. Their 2023 debut album A Beat To Make It Better built on this, drawing from broken beat, jazz-funk and cosmic soul. It also introduced political themes, folding social commentary into warped synths and leftfield grooves. In 2024, they returned with two contrasting albums. Dream With You leans lo-fi, all cassette textures, piano loops and soul-rooted art-pop. Come As You is bolder and more experimental, its loose structures and melodic repetition nodding to Broadcast and Stereolab. Their fourth record Halo dropped in early 2025. It’s their darkest and most introspective yet, full of slow trip-hop, nostalgia, and meditations on love and personal change. Beyond Thandii, both artists have deep roots in the UK scene. Godfrey and Berry have worked with Michael Kiwanuka, SAULT, Cleo Sol and Little Simz, and these projects subtly inform their own music, especially in their use of space, tone and rhythmic feel. Thandii’s sound sits somewhere between indie jazz, dream pop, electronic soul, alt-R&B and trip-hop, each project feels like a world of its own, and their sound shifted again on the single 'Broken Record' — a funky soul track with strong Jungle-esque ‘Back on 74’ energy.
