NoSo is the moniker of Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Baek Hwong, known for his emotionally resonant songwriting, virtuosic guitar work, and explorations of identity and self-acceptance. A first-generation Korean-American and a nonbinary artist, NoSo’s music often reflects on the nuances of growing up between cultures, gender experiences, and the quiet complexities of coming-of-age.

NoSo first gained attention in 2018 with the release of the debut single “Allie”, a poignant track that oozes richly melodic, introspective songwriting. Followed by “Parasites”, a 4-track EP released in May 2022.

NoSo’s breakout came with the 2022 full-length debut Stay Proud of Me, a carefully crafted collection of dreamy indie rock songs shaped by nostalgia, queer longing, personal healing, and daydreams of a life shaped by embraced self-identity. Drawing from influences such as Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers, and classic guitar-driven pop, NoSo described the album as a “care package” to their younger self.

Produced with intricate attention to detail, the record explores moments of childhood confusion, gender dysphoria, and tenderness. Standout tracks like “Suburbia,” “Parasites,” and “I Feel You” showcases NoSo's ability to distill complex feelings into deceptively gentle, emotionally layered dream-pop songs.

Beyond recorded music, NoSo is also celebrated for expressive and vulnerable live performances. He studied guitar formally from a young age and is known for blending technical precision with deep emotional resonance, exploring melodic bedroom pop, alt-rock, and ambient folk.

With a growing presence on the indie scene and a unique creative voice, NoSo continues to emerge as one of the most vital new artists in alternative music. The second album, When Are You Leaving?, will arrive on October 10th, 2025, and will be firmly rooted in reality, detailing enlightening and tumultuous experiences with self-identity head-on.
